BEFORE RECEIVING THE AUDIO PLAYER

  • What are the requirements to join the DS Music Program?

    Before subscribing to the DS Music Display Program, be sure to meet the following 3 requirements:

    • You should have an audio system ready to display an audio analogue stream (audio amp & speakers), with access to an Internet connection. If you don’t already have this kind of materiel in your DS Store, please refer to our recommendations in this document;
    • You should have Internet access that enables the IP audio player to connect content to the music server. (This server should allow port tcp 443).
    • You should also make sure that the equipment has an outgoing internet access to those addresses: http://dsmusic.carlipa.online and http://vpn.dsmusic.carlipa.online.

    In order to configure your IP Audio Player, please take note that you will need some key information for your online subscription (If you use Static DHCP IP Address on your network, you don’t need to give these information).

  • How to know the correct IP address to communicate during the online subscription?

    In all cases, it is preferable to consult your IT or Network helpdesk or your Internet network provider to make sure you get the right information required for the addressing mode.

    There are two possibilities:

    • If you use Dynamic DHCP IP Address on your network, you don’t have to provide anything for the configuration of the player.
    • If using Static DHCP IP Address on your network, you should ask your IT or Network helpdesk or your Internet network provider to provide this information described below.

    Enter the following information:

    • The IP Address used by the IP Audio Player;
    • The Subnet Mask for this IP Address;
    • The IP Address of the Network Gateway.
    • The DNS IP address.

  • How to choose the correct audio system for my DS Store?

    This chapter will help you if your DS Store is still under construction or if you haven’t already chosen/installed speakers in your DS Store.

    Choosing the right speakers

    Speakers are a key component to build a high quality audio system. You don’t need to buy audiophile speakers but in the meantime, you should have a sufficient quality to respect the sound and offer listening comfort to your customers. Here are some speakers that we recommend, with good value-for-money:

    • Focal IC 706V white (229€), which are the best choice for your DS Store;
    • At a lower price, Focal IC 108 T white are also a correct choice (119€);
    • Bose DS 16 F (138€ – white or black) could also be a good option.

    Placing the speakers in your DS Store

    Placing the speakers depends on several parameters like the area of your DS Store, the ceiling height and wall and ceiling coating. Since each DS Store is different, we will only give you some general and basic guidelines.

    • Speakers should be placed at 5-meter distance from each other (maximum 10 meter distance). The idea is to be able to cover the overall area of your DS Store without having to set a too high level output of the audio amp;
    • The ceiling height has an effect on the area covered by the speaker: if the ceiling height is lower than standard, speakers should be closer to each other.

    Choose the correct audio amp

    Choosing the correct audio amp is also a major aspect of the audio system design. Most of time we recommend professional audio amp, more expensive but better quality: TOA A-1800 (319€) is a good option for a DS Store.

    Most of time, these audio amps have external audio sources connections (mics or other musical player device). This can be useful for shows or events inside the DS Store.

DURING THE ONLINE SUBSCRIPTION

  • I didn’t receive the mail confirmation and/or quote, what shall I do?

    If you completed your online subscription just a few minutes ago, don’t panic! You should receive a first confirmation mail within 24 hours. After that, a second mail with the quote will be sent to you within 48 hours. The overall process to subscribe should not take more than 48 hours.

    If you haven’t received the first confirmation mail within 24 hours, please re-submit your online registration form.

    After that, if you still haven’t received one of the two-mentioned e-mails, please contact us by mail (ds@sixiemeson.com) and we will answer you quickly.

WHEN RECEIVING THE AUDIO PLAYER

  • Where should I install the IP Audio Player?

    The IP Audio Player should be placed:

    • Close to the audio amp: don’t forget the amp will be used by the DS Store manager to switch off/on the music;
    • Close to the network connexion jack (internet access): it could be a RJ 45 wall jack or a network router;
    • Close to an electricity jack (220v);

    You should find in the installation guide some illustration of the Audio Player installation.

  • I didn’t succeed in installing the player, what should I do?

    If you face some technical issues during the IP Audio Player installation, please write us at support@carlipa.com and we will answer you within 48 hours.

  • The IP Audio Player is running but I don’t have music in my DS Store anymore, what should I do?

    The first thing to check is if the IP Audio Player is running: to check that, you could connect audio headphones in the 3,5’’ jack connector in the front of the player.

    If you hear music, it means the IP Audio Player is running. The problem is then with the audio system: check cable connections between the player and the amp, the amp source selector (Aux, Tuner, CD) and also the power level of the amp. If the problem still remains, call your audio provider.

    If you can’t hear any music coming out of the player:

    • Check the blue “power” light on the front of the player and the power cable of the player;
    • Check that you are in the time slot for music playing. Outside these hours, the player doesn’t play music; as a reminder, the time slot for the music player depends on the time you set when you ordered online. If you want to change those hours, please contact us at ds@sixiemeson.com.

  • How to monitor the IP Audio Player

    If faced with problems concerning the player and if asked by the remote support team you’ll be able to manually connect to the player, read its current status and perform the technical troubleshooting solutions.

    Remember this operation should be exceptional. The DS Music Player System is designed to work in a fully The DS Music Player System is designed to work in a fully automatic way. The following actions should only be done with the support of a Sixième Son or Carlipa helpdesk.

    If the player has a static IP Address (defined by your IT department), it should be written on the top of the equipment.

    If the player has a dynamic Address (DHCP) you can easily find this address following this procedure: Connect a screen using VGA or HDMI cable and check the IP addresses like in the example below:

  • My player is not working, how do I force the audio synchronization?

    To restart the player, the easiest way is to unplug the power cable, wait for 10 seconds and plug the power cable back.

    This action will reboot the player and re-synchronize the audio files. After restart, you may wait for a few minutes before the music plays.

  • The music content of my player is not being updated.

    The player uses an Internet access to retrieve new audio content from the server (dsmusic.carlipa.online). If you think the audio content is not being updated, check the following actions:

    • Force the audio synchronisation by restarting the player. Read the previous chapter related to this operation: « how should I restart it? ». The player should synchronize itself within 24 hours;
    • After this duration, if the player still has the same content, this could mean that the Internet access is not running properly and the player couldn’t reach the music server. In this case, please ask your network provider to check the player’s connection to dsmusic.carlipa.online and vpn.dsmusic.carlipa.online..

LEGAL QUESTIONS

  • Are all music copyrights included in the annual fee?

    Music copyrights related to the using of audio content are included in the monthly/annual fee.

    However, each DS Store should declare the musical copyright related to the audio broadcasting in the DS Store. This declaration should be done to your local SACEM department.

    The SACEM department will bill all the necessary fees (SACEM and SPRE[1]) to your DS Store associated with the broadcasting activity.

  • How should I declare rights to the SACEM?

    Rights should be declared to the county SACEM department by phone, mail or Internet: in your settlement, you should give the information regarding your DS Store location as well as the broadcast start and end dates.

    To find the SACEM department that corresponds to your location, check the www.sacem.fr, “réseau regional” tab. You could also find the details regarding your related SACEM department by using French “Pages Jaunes” and by typing SACEM + name of your region or county.
